Novos travel to Medicals this Saturday to compete for the Mel McQuillan Jug. Sure to be an entertaining encounter.

Squad - Tom Dias, George Waterhouse, Josh Stacey, Tom Cox, Adam McDonald, Alex Cleminson, Sean Ramsay, Alex Littlefair, Paddy Sowter, Nick Bellamy, James Bass, Shaun Stewart, Ben Wollerton, Mark Leckie, David Marshall, Andy Hall, Ben Merrett, Rory Davidson.

Medicals have perhaps not hit the heights they have hoped this season. However, they possess some quality players and always do well against us. In the past six outings the results have gone back and forth with no side in recent season been able to record back to back wins. Such is the competitiveness of this fixture all form goes out the window and Medicals will be hopeful of reversing the result from earlier in the season.

Vos pack looks stronger this week as first team regulars return in the form of Josh Stacey, Adam McDonald and Tom Cox. A man of the match performance on debut from George Waterhouse sees him keep the hooker spot ahead of Andy Hall.

The lads up front played well last week with the lineout in good form, strong carries and showed an ability to turn over ball against quality opposition. Hopefully, they will back up this performance with a strong showing against local opposition.

There are a fair few changes in the backs due to injury as Nick Bellamy will start at 10, charged with delivering the sides game plan. Shaun Stewart moves to 12 for the unavailable Tom Winning. There is a return for Mark Leckie on the wing after being unavailable to play last week. At 15 David Marshall returns to the side and will look forward to countering Medicals kicking game. The back line is completed with James Bass being promoted form the bench in place of the injured Tim Hart.

The bench is made up of Andy Hall, Ben Merrett and Rory Davidson. Opportunities for the versatile Hall to show he deserves a first team place for next season; Davidson to show how good the lads coming through from our youth system are. Finally, Ben Merrett returns from self exile. A club stalwart who has been a big miss about the place on and off the pitch. We all look forward to seeing him put on the Novos shirt again and having a pint with him afterwards.

Massive opportunity for this group to raise the McQuillan Jug and achieve a rare double over Medicals. A great day out no matter what the result for the Benton/Heaton rugby community.

Up the Vos !
