The County Championship in May 2016 saw Novos biggest county representation in years, including Senior Men, Senior Ladies and Under 20’s men.

The County season games kicked off on the first weekend of May with the Senior Ladies fixture against Durham. The team featured five Novos Ladies; Emily Yarrow, Elle Blood, Jess Richards and Emma Clement with Janey Eccles captaining the side. Less Richards was awarded forward of the match. Meanwhile over the same weekend Sam Busby was gracing the turf at Twickenham for the Under 20’s, scoring what has been described by some commentators as a spectacular try.

The following weekend the Senior Men began their campaign with a home fixture against East Midlands. Josh Stacey and Aedan Moloney were on the bench, with Aedan coming on in the second half. The ladies followed with a home fixture against Lancashire. The squad featured Emily Yarrow, Emma Clement, Caitlin Sedgeworth, Helen Kane, Jen Meagher, Fanny Fouin, Emily Oliver, Jess Richards, Emma Nichol and Fran Mockford with Janey Eccles again leading the side.

The next weekend saw both Aedan Maloney and Johnny Ward in the starting line for the Senior Men in the fixture away against Durham. Both scored in the 38-29 win. The Sunday saw the final Senior Ladies game away aagainst Cumbria. The side featured Elle Blood, Jen Meagher, Jess Richards and Emily Yarrow.

The final weekend of the County fixtures saw both Johnny Ward and Aedan Maloney in the starting lineup for the fixture away in Leicestershire. The game was notable for Aedan as he collected his full county cap. The game also featured Under 20’s star Sam Busby making his first senior appearance from the bench.
