Novos celebrated the start of the rugby world cup in style this weekend. There is a lot more to come though...

The club kicked off the RWC celebrations with touch on Friday afternoon which saw members from every section joining in. This was followed by the fancy dress parade. The girls section won fancy dress, although the ladies competed for the top spot well the judges didn't want to be accused of bias! After all the activity outside everyone moved inside for a drink and to watch the action on the big screen which saw England win over Fiji. It was great to see so many people and all sections of the club enjoying the action on Friday. Some even enjoyed it so much that they camped out overnight!

Following the revelry on Friday night there may have been a few sore heads as Saturday had a quiet start to the day. With the firsts playing at home the balconies filled, with everyone enjoying the rugby on display. The win against Hordon was followed by the exciting South Africa vs Japan game with everyone was backing Japan. The France Italy game couldn't compete against those excitement levels!

Sunday was Wales day at the club. As well as Wales winning against Uruguay, the Ladies also won against top of the table Eccles. The ladies game was followed by a fine spread of welsh food that everyone enjoyed (thanks to the Gittins!). I hear the bar may have been drunk dry of Brains SA as well..it must have been the excitement of the NZ v Argentina game making everyone thirsty!

This week sees the ladies and men's teams enjoy the world cup after training on Wednesday and Thursday.

The ladies then host a Pitch Up and Paly recruitment event on Friday. If you are or know anyone who is keen to try our wonderful game get them to come along at 6.30pm for a fun session for any abilities. Following this there is a RWC quiz and curry night at the club. It's £5 to enter a team of 4 into the quiz with cash and spot prizes. To enable us to order enough curry please let Fran know you plan to attend wither on Facebook or at fmockford@gmail.com. Cost will be between £5-£8.

Saturday is England day at Sutherland park as they take on Wales at 8pm. Be sure to come to the club early to see 4 teams in action outside, as well as the other two games on the big screens. Tea will be provided free all day if you want to keep refreshed until the game at 8pm!
