Novos managed to take a few positives out of this pre season fixture which was dominated by Northern.
Up front, new lads Cam Wilson (7) and Jack Spoor(8) looked handy against opposition that only three months ago were two leagues higher than us.
Again, more positives from recruits Ryan Collins-Thomas and Jez Nash who showed that our back line will cope with the loss of Squire and Parkinson.
The third quarter of this match saw the debuts of two 17 year olds in Euan Binmore and Jan Safranek. Both have been training with the seniors in pre season and have a bright future at our club. Jan has recently represented the Czech Republic at U18 level.
As usual, Novos showed plenty of heart and never stopped giving their all. However, this was rather a mismatch and we learned some harsh lessons in the physicality and fitness required to play in North One.
Novos look forward to a trip to Berwick this week, hoping to get a share of the ball. Furthermore, it is expected that some of the 17 squad lads unavailable for Northern will be ready to head North on Saturday.
The club is poised to have another strong season as playing numbers continue to grow.
