Debuts in a Novos Shirt for Mike Stowe (ex Darlington) Rob Murphy (ex Sunderland) Lewis Chater (Novos Colt) Aedan Moloney (ex Middlesbrough) Matt Telford and Will Doyle (both Novos Youth)
The Broughton boys had stayed over on the Friday night so it was a bit of a surprise that they started well ! They were a well coached side and did the simple things well. The scored two nice tries and led at half time 10-0. Their eight was outstanding all day and their seven turned over a load of ball (perhaps not always within the laws however)
Our lads took their time to gel in their first match together. However, the second half saw some decent set piece ball allow us to build some pressure. As the Broughton lads started to feel the night before we grabbed tries via Tommy Wilson Jnr and Aedan Moloney.
Tony Manley blew the final whistle as the game finished a 10 all draw.
The lads worked really hard for the shirt throughout the game and the environment was top class. A real positive day given the performances on debut from Stowe, Moloney and Murphy. However, special mention must go to the youth set up for seeing Chater, Telford and Doyle put on a senior shirt for the first time. Lewis Chater was exceptional throughout the match and made some telling line breaks.
A really good game that saw over 20 players take the field for Novos.
