Novos kick off with a win
Novos gave a host of players a run out against North Shields in a game that provided Coach Rob Jones with plenty to ponder heading into the season!
The game was split into four, twenty minute quarters and Novos fielded a fully changed team in thee of them!
North Shields are always tough opponents, so it was very surprising to note the total dominance of the Novos pack throughout the encounter, Novos scored seven well worked tries and were only really under any pressure in the 3rd quarter when they leaked 4 tries.
Lots of good performances but an impressive debut from Scrum Half Simon Ayre and wing David Sears was good to see as well as 2nd team regulars from last season James Bass, Jamie Diggle, Sean Lightfoot, Jack Watkins and Chris Gray making strong calls for 1st team selection.
Tries were scored by James Bass, Dave Stephenson, Ben Walker (2), Gav Evans , Andy Borthwick and Jack Watkins.
Novos host North Berwick on Saturday when even more of the huge squad will get an opportunity to stake a claim for a shirt on 3rd September when the league kicks off.
