If anyone still had doubts before the game in how much fight Novos had to stay in this league, they can be rest assured that Novos are more than equipped to compete well and fight all of the way to get the points we need to climb the table and pull out of the relegation fight we find ourselves in, even at this early stage of the season. Rovers who are 2nd in the league had to work extremely hard to gain this victory and Novos were unfortunate to not get some points on the board after plenty of hard work and effort saw them go close several times without success.
This was an entertaining game and Novos will take much heart from an improved display and can take many positives from this performance, which they will need to carry into next weeks game with another promotion pacesetter in the shape of Stockton.
One bit of bad news is the loss of Outstanding full back Fergus Wilson to a broken thumb, he will miss around 6 weeks and joins a growing list of front line players in the treatment room.
If we can get our full squad available and on the pitch we have more than a fighting chance.
On a lighter note, our new skin tight strips caused a stir, Skipper Andy Borthwick assuring us it was rippling muscle moving under his shirt! We do worry about the effect its having on some players though - following Michael 'Jazz Hands' Williams is this picture of Jack 'limp wrist' Watkins which is a concern!
