Another free scoring match won 45-29. We scored some cracking tries and showed some real ambition to keep the pace high for the duration. Quick taps and running rugby led to scores for Bollado 2 tries, Smith, Merrett, Harrison, Coller, Twentyman with Bollado kicking 5 cons.
It was great to see the lads buying into what they have been learning at training and as such further progress is on the way. Great to score from a quick lineout after discussions at training about how to speed the game up.
We were not far away from running away with this game but to Seaton's credit they got back into the game. They showed why they finished fourth last season and again, we hope that they are a side who can take points off the teams around us.
In the return match, I am sure that they will feel confident about reversing the result.
Thanks goes to the ref, Mike Hodgson. Speaking to him after the game he said he really enjoyed it and we hope we will see him back at Novos again.
As a club we should be really happy where things are heading. There is competition for places all over the team, players are starting to realise that they will not play if they do not train, there is a great environment for new players and we are improving as a side.
It was great to look around the bar after the game and see so many smiling faces. We must remember that we are running four sides which other clubs can only dream of. Yes, we will play better but who cares. We got the 5 point win and have some momentum to carry into next week at Hartlepool.
