A good day.... for something else

In a game which we had sufficient chances to put 40 points on the board we only managed 10. As such, we were beaten 15-10 by a side more cynical, oops, I mean clinical on the day.

Hartlepool had a good scrum and their number eight was a handful all day. Apart from missing a kick or two they made the most of the opportunities to score.

Hartlepool remain unbeaten at home and we now eagerly await their visit to Sutherland Park where we will endeavour to correct our mistakes.
Despite a warning about what lay ahead we started slowly and were quickly 10-0 down. We responded with a penalty from Dan Bollado but also butchered several line breaks.
Some harsh words at have time appeared to have got us going as we raised the tempo and scored a try via Chris Ward, convereted by Bollado. At 10-10 it looked like we would go onto win the game as we continued to make breaks at will. However, repeated handling errors were punished as Hartlepool scored again and went on to hold out for a 15-10 home win.

The ref had a difficult day as players and supporters appealed at every scrum, ruck, kick or pass. However, he was young and Im sure he will improve over time. We only have ourselves to play really. That being said we were often unable to lift the tempo of the game and some rather cycnical play was never punished.

It has been difficult to write this report as I am still recovering from what was a bad day at the office. The day was made even worse when we found out that Redcar had lost ! Apologies to Ben Walker as I was rather blunt in my appraisal of how valuable this information was ! Need to control the controlables lads and not worry about things that happen around us.
