The game started well enough, Novos gained posession and rattled Redcar with some good controlled play but Novos were not running from enough depth and from then on we allowed Redcar soft posession which they ran back with hard running from their back row and centres. A loose kick was misfielded and the ball bounced into the wingers hands for the opening score.
Soon after Redcar were awarded a contentious penalty try when a tackle by Shaun Stewart was judged high and the referee awarded a penalty try.
Before half time Redcar had struck twice more in a forgettable 40 minutes for Novos.
The second half was a few minutes old and Redcar were 0-29 to the good when an attempted chip kick out of our 22 (!) gifted Redcar another soft score.
Then Novos decided to play some rugby, finally playing with some purpose and depth in attack Novos began building some momentum and actually ran at Redcar, Bollado, Olding and Smith all made some inroads before finally Speedster Darren McCrory scored in the corner.
Before full time Novos missed two further opportunities to score before McCrory added his and Novos 2nd try of the afternoon.
With time running out McCrory could have had what would have been an unlikely hat trick having watched the opening 60 minutes but it was not to be.
Congratulations to Redcar who must now be red hot favourites to win the league - they showed aggression and carried well but must have left Novos shocked not to have been tested more and a missed opportunity for Novos who will never know what might have been if they had not waited 60 minutes to show Redcar they can play.
Onwards and upwards with a tough game away at Barnard Castle next week
