With several changes due to unavailability Novos showed the depth of their squad with a 34-15 win away to Seaton Carew.

Novos ended Seaton Carews push for promotion with a 34-15 victory away from home. It is now a three club race at the top with next weeks opponents North Shields trying to get into the top four.

Seaton Carew started quicker than us and gained an earlier advantage. We responded by trying to up the tempo of the game. Some good team play ended with Jonny Ward stretching his legs for the first time, scoring after a fine run. Novos 7-5.

Novos again went on the attack and Jonny Ward scored a fantastic solo try from inside his own half. Shaun Stewart added the conversion. Novos 12-5.

Pete Twentyman received a yellow card for being taken out at the lineout and then being thrown to the floor.

We then went off the ball and Seaton Carew put us under real pressure. Our scrum was going backwards as we buckled under the weight of the opposition scrum. Controlling possession Seaton Carew scored two tries after we missed a lot of tackles. Seaton Carew 15-12.

Second half we were down the slope and looked to up the tempo again. After several attacks near the opposition line Darren McCrory crashed over and Shaun added the conversion. Novos 19-15.

More pressure led to Shaun kicking a well struck penalty. Novos 22-15 and piling on the pressure.

Seaton Carew were then issued a yellow card for obstruction. Very harsh, as the Novos player ran into him as much as the other player got in the way.

With a man extra we managed two more tries, one converted. The tries went to Jonny Smith and Jonny Ward completing a fine hat-trick. Novos 34-15.

A great win, Seaton Carew's unbeaten first loss at home all season. This match showed the depth of our squad as we were without Paul Olding, Jamie Wallace, Mark Curphey, Gav Evans, Dan Bollado, Luke Mitchell, Matt Bradford, Steve Neill, Tom Lewin.

Gus Graham, Sam Dixon, Darren McCrory and Andy Gardiner played well after coming up from the twos. Alex Littlefair and Louis Whitworth were excellent in the loose and Jonny Ward the fastest player on the pitch by some distance.

Another tough fixture away at Nth Shields this Saturday. Like us, they are in good form and will be desperate to continue their run. Five cup finals left to go as we continue to push for promotion.

C'mon lads lets keep going.

Ps - get in Wales !
