Novos Finish Well

Novos were a bit patchy in training going into this match. However, with the coaches words "you are going to lose" ringing in our ears we set our to prove him wrong !

We attacked from the off and Barnard Castle had no answer to our high tempo game. Playing to instructions we kept the ball in hand and had a real go.

First Dan Bollado crashed over. Bang, we are in again via James Parkinson. Bang, another try this time by Jonny Ward and Bollado adding the conversion. Novos 17-0 after 15 mins !

This season, it has been the Novos way to take the foot of the gas, not yet ! Parkinson goes in for his second of the day, again converted by Bollado. Novos 24-0.

Novos scrum has been going forward all game ! Pete Twentyman get a shiner from his opposite number who doesnt like getting stuffed. Bit of banter between Novos coach and the player results in "the finger"

Kick off doesn't go ten, Barney stop playing but Jonny Smith picks it up, breaks a tackle and off loads to Jamie Wallace. Estimations have put it as 50m but it seemed much more for Jamie as he raced away to score ! Back to half way, Jamie has his "kick it anywhere but me" face on ! Novos 29-0.

Half coming to an end, more great team play leads to Rob Squire sprinting in, converted by Bollado. Novos 36-0.

Tane has a chat to the lads and we want to keep our standards high as we know they want to slow the game down. Second half starts, their prop must have hurt his hand on Petes face as he is having a rest.

Tempo still high, we go in again. This time Jonny Ward races in for his second. Novos 41-0.

Barnard Castle finally get moving forward and score a try after their young fly half (17) makes a break. Novos 41-7.

We respond well, Bollado runs over the young flyhalf to go in again. Novos 46-7.

The game was played in good spirits until their eight(who was playing well) hits Richie Harrison whilst on the deck. No option for the ref but to show red.

Into the last 10 mins. We are awarded a penalty, Pete Twentyman taps and goes whilst our opposition are still figuring out whose penalty it is. Goes in untouched in the corner. Novos 51-7.

Barney now play their best rugby of the match, moving the ball round and finding gaps as we tire. The score twice, Novos 51-17.

Perhaps fittingly, Dan Bollado scores Novos last try of the season and completes his hat-trick. Ending the season as top try scorer. Novos 56-17.

Thanks to the ref who again was excellent. He has a great future as a ref and was good company in the bar afterwards.

Thanks to all the people involved in the background - Tane, our physios, Coops, Colin, Nick.. the list goes on. Also to Lucy and her team for putting up with our antics in the bar. Thanks also to the number of people who I have not named as the list is too long !

We eagerly look forward to the fixture list for next season. Sure the lads will look for Gosforth first... as the management team look out for Gateshead.
