Wedding Bliss

On the back of two very good training sessions, including Thursdays session dedicated to stopping Bishops runners. A determined Novos side took the field with a real feel good factor despite their rather low league position.

Most of this seasons games have been over by half time as Novos have been sitting back to see how the opposition played. Not this time, as Novos won the early battle for front foot possession.

With Novos pack edging a bewildered looking Bishop Auckland side, points were scored via Wilson, McCrory with Callaghan adding another seven with his boot.

For the first time this season Novos were winning their own scrum ball and Harrison controlling field position. Half time came with the game at 17-13 Novos.

Bishop Auckland have been unbeaten at home for two years and early in the second half they looked to respond. Pressure was on our defence as we lost Higginson to the bin when Harrison committed a foul ??

However, our defence was awesome and we did not let them score despite their numerical advantage. On the back of this defence we went on to score tries from McCrory, Neill, Smith and kicked all our conversions to win the second half 21-0 !

Final score 38-13 Novos.

A great win for us in a place where other people will struggle to pick up points. Bishop Auckland are a better side than we saw today and I am sure they will bounce back.

Best moments of the day as far as I were concerned were -
Cam Wilson pretending to place the ball back between his legs then regathering and running in untouched.
Tane Tuipolotu putting his flag up for an opposition kick when their touch judge flagged it as missing !!
Opposition winger shaking hands and telling us they had loads of players missing. Only to get the reply of - Ah... that's why you were playing !
Jonny Ward slipping over every time they kicked it to him. Jonny remember Ponteland ?? Get some old school studded boots for next week please mate ! Blades are for footballers !!

Next week we have Gosforth at home. Lets keep the momentum going at training lads. Cant be many clubs in the north east that get 35-40 players at every training session.

A good day was made great when we returned home to find that seconds had won as well. Not 100% sure but the thirds won too I think ?!
