Another Hart luck story for 2nds
Novos 2nd string deserved to win, at the very least they deserved a losing bonus point but thanks to a bizarre late, late penalty try to Hartlepool they returned North with nothing but another hard luck story.
Despite proving more than a match for our hosts, Novos were losing 24 – 20 in the final 5 minutes and pressing for a fourth try and the win. With just minutes to go Rovers were gifted a penalty try much to the chagrin of the Novos players.
Life in the new league has presented the toughest of starts for Novos, playing the 3 top sides in the first three weeks and then a tough away journey to Hartlepool, yet in 3 out of four games Novos have shown they can live at this level only to miss out on any kind of return. Novos will need to arrest the run quickly and start picking up some points if they are to start competing in this league.
Its not all disappointing, we are probably playing teams that would do well in the first teams league so its great news we have in the main been competitive and at nearing full strength there is evidence to suggest that the first win is not far away.
Next week Novos take on Gosforth Phoenix at home, They won over Durham City by 3 points last week and what better side to pick up our first points against than the old enemy!
