Was a canny day down in sutherland park, 'posh' Newcastle Uni Freshers gathered at the home ground for a friendly against the 2's.
Starting line up

Freshers started with a kick off, caught by birdy then quickly the ball was given back to the opposition, resulting in a fast try by the 10, followed by a conversion.
Novos got a line out before next to the 22, well executed 5 man line out, thrown in by Shuttleworth (fish), strong drive then scored by Shuttleworth, Pratty reckons he pushed him over like. Freshers score again with a conversion. Another try from Vos, scored by the dreamer Hughes-Naughborough, strong carry made getting himself a try, Shaun Stewart kicked the conversion. Freshers score again missing the conversion.
Ball from Harra into Jamie Wallace, saw the gap, broke through the line, gassed the first tackle then a quick bit of footwork left the full back in bits, scoring in the corner, going to call it a 'Rob Vickers special' dived on the line from about 0.5 metres out. missed conversion.
Half time changes, Wilson for Harrap. Cokeley came off for Gus.
Kicking off into the second half the freshers weren't tired in the slightest running the ball fast and wide scoring another 3 tries converting them all.
Trip to A&E for Dan Marshall, cracking tackle.. shame you used your face to put such a hit in. Selkirk back on as 9.
Shaun Stewart off for Birdy. Then Freshers score another 2 converting them both. Final score 54-17.
High scoring, fast paced game against. Strong performance by the forwards, spot on execution from the lineouts. The nippy backs from the freshers got the better of us.
Man of the match goes to Stephen Hughes-Narborough, cracking performance, high work rate and many tackles made. Straight to the beers in the club after, as the gentleman we are at Novos. We put it upon ourselves to introduce each member to Stephen's girlfriend. To make sure she remember our names we kept going in circles to re introduce ourselves multiple times.
Thanks to the ref for taking the game, and to the lads from the Freshers for a good friendly, hopefully we get some of you lot down training. Also thanks to all the Novo's lads for a decent turn out and cracking effort in the match, straight back into the league next week tackling Morpeth at our home ground.
