Match Preview

Following a rest week the 2s return hosting Percy Park in the quarter final of the Northumberland No 2 Cup. This will be the fourth time in three seasons that the two teams have met in the cup. Novos lost a thrilling game away to Park earlier in the season 33-45, a poor first half cost vos that day. The 2s have been improving each week and played really well for 70 minutes last time out against DMP, with the National league one outfit pulling away in the final 10 minutes. A strong squad has been named, with a new look ball carrying front row of Andy Hall, Iain Dodds and Brendan Thomas. Ian Pratt will captain the team from the second row with his usual partner Ed Sheeran tribute Cameron Carmichael. In the backrow Craig Eales moves from 8 to 6 to accommodate former first team skipper Alex Littlefair, with Alex Cokeley taking the 7 shirt / covering hooker and wing.
Paddy Sowter continues at 9 with Greg Humphreyson returning to play 10, his last two 2s games have been against Park. In midfield the 2s are able to name two strong ball carrying and hard tackling centres Micky Williamson and Sam Bird. Out wide the pace comes in the form of youthful Dylan Murphey and experienced James Bass, with Pat Smith slotting in at 15 after impressing with the 3s last week.
The three man bench is made up of backrows Josh McFarland and the returning Blair Tweedy aka better than Hipps. John Marshall fresh from his cheerful selfies in Japan covers the backs.
