Harry Jones with the report on this occasion in a 54-33 over a strong Tynedale side. Making it three from three on the day.

After an amazing away win at Acklam and a week off from rugby Novos 2's were hungry for another win, especially with the return of Shaun Stewart and Adam Lambert.

Tynedale opened the scoring early on after a number of Novos penalties led to a big maul from Tynedale to get themselves over line. Conversion missed 0-5.

Novos were keen to answer back though with the forwards crashing the ball to the line and it was Josh Hood who got the first Novos try of the day and with Novos rules applied we were up 7-5. Tynedale responded quickly however and managed to get an almost identical try to their first with the big lads driving over line once again to make it 7-12. Novos again were quick to respond in this back to back affair and after some solid defence Alex Cokeley managed to get the ball over the line for the ‘Vos, 14-12.

This is where the game really opened up and our backs were allowed more of the ball, eventually shifting it left to Adam Lambert who beat his man on the outside to score another try and add to his tally. More moves down the wings from Michael Lehmann and Max Cook really opened up the game and it wasn’t long until Ollie Foster drove over the line to make it 3 tries in 2 games for the young Allanian.

Novos wanted to keep up the scoring in the 2nd half and it was Dave Lawson who got the try, Shaun Stewart added the conversion to make it 35-12 to Novos. Tynedale responded well though with another maul drive over the line after a line out. Shock.

Novos could’ve added another try but second row Tom Platt decided to kick the ball in a 5 on 2 situation, luckily somehow the smallest man on the pitch Lambert was able to catch it to save some embarrassment for Platt.

Strong carries in the 2nd half from our forwards Simeon Archibald and Dylan Mills allowed us to win penalties and get a line-out just on the halfway line. Champagne rugby inbound as the backs and forwards shifted the ball incredibly down the line without getting touched by the opposition after good hands from Harry Jones and a suberb flick from James Bass, then as the ball came inside Tom Platt got his try after a brilliant training ground move from the backs.

Tynedale scored 2 more tries at the Novos rules end, credit to their big lads who were able to drive over the line again. Novos responded well again with runs from the quick Zinzan Fraser. However, it was Jack Long who got the last two Novos tries of the day. Two incredible line breaks on his debut for Vos as the Ponteland lad got a run out by being a friend of James Devenish. Well played James !!

Final Score 54-33. Man of the match to Simeon Archibald for his strong carries and great defence. Richard of the Day went to Harry Jones for being a typical ten and deciding to tackle like a turnstile.

Our 2s face Morpeth next week and will be looking for another win.

Up the ‘Vos.
