Novos 3s travelled away to Consett to play their 2s in the final fixture of the year.
Due to lack of keys the changing rooms only opened 25 minutes before kick-off, which prevented a proper warm up.

Novos started strongly and were rewarded with a try following a good run by Oliver Dearden and a perfect scrum half pass by Ian Pratt to John Marshall unleashed the back line with winger James Weaver scoring in the corner. Shaun Stewart on return from injury missed the conversion.

John Marshall went off injured after 10 minutes, which lead to rugby newbie Connor Wells coming on and a reshuffle to the back line.

Consett scored two tries to take a 10-5 lead into half time.

Novos started off the second half at high tempo and scored early on following a flowing backs move and some good ball slapping by Wells which allowed Weaver to score his second try.

Novos then gave away two poor tries the first one when scrum half Tom Burford threw the ball to no one in the 22 following a scrum and the Consett 9 scored a converted try.

The second try shouldn’t of stud as the Consett 9 picked the ball up out of the feet of the Novos openside during a scrum, raced away to put their centre into score a converted try 24-10.

Drew Henderson came on and went off. During which time Shaun Steward scored and converted a try 24-17.

Following some more strange awards of penalties Consett scored another converted try.

Novos kept playing rugby until the end but couldn’t add to their score.

Man of the match was Oliver Dearden for an excellent display at 6.
