Novos 62 - 14 Alnwick

The first match of 2017 was an important one with it being a double header.
Alnwicks arrival with 11 players disrupted the warm up but some stern words from dear leader and club bully gus Graham brought the players back down to earth.
Novos controlled the early possession which led Graham bursting through the line and offloading to Ollie Gamble to score his first of 3 tries of the afternoon to give vos a 5 nil lead. Some strong running from the restart brought play back into the Alnwick 22. Some strong play from the forwards led to Michael Stowe powering over the line to bring the score to 12 nil. Alnwick seemed to wake up after this and scored a great try to bring. The republic responded however with 3 more tries in the first through colm O'keefe, Shaun O'Connell and a second for gamble to leave the half time score 31-7 to Novos.
The republic started the second half as the finished the first controlling possession. This possession led to Rich Harrison breaking the line and offloading to Andrew Gardiner scoring under the posts. Vos continued to dominate possession and after a pick and go off a scrum Pratt offloaded to Harra who made another break which led to gamble completing his hat trick. A further try was added by David Marshall after he ran half the pitch to score. Some strong spirited play from Alnwick led them to score. One of probably the worst restarts was well recovered by the kicker harra to win a penalty which was tapped by Christian Selkirk who beat several defenders to score in the corner. The finally try on the day was scored when O'keefe pounced on some poor play to score his second try of the afternoon. Three conversions for Selkirk, 2 for Marshall and another for Harra completed the score as 62-14 to Novos.
