Novos 3's 17, Blyth 2's 10

So Saturday's match saw Blyth make the trip to Sutherland park. After Ian Wood's request to play the game early to watch the England game was denied by Blyth, only a win would make up for this.

Novos took the kick off and with a strong breeze blowing across the pitch the subsequent kick went straight out into touch, Blyth took the scrum on the half way line. Novos pack were looking heavy and up for it and nearly won the ball straight back. This started the onslaught from Blyth for a good 15 minutes and the lads fronted up and defended like their lives depended on it. Eventually Blyth broke the defence and scored a try and Novos rule applied so took a 0-7 lead.

Finally, the lads settled down and went straight back up the pitch and Ross Cleminson charged over the line to the right of the posts. Jack Thompson stepped up for the kick and after taking into account the wind he inevitably over cooked it and missed by a mile. Spurred on by this Novos started playing some better rugby.

Shortly after this, Dan Vicary was through to score on the right hand side of the posts again. Up stepped Jack and adjusted his kick but missed again. The game was turning out to be a great watch.

Just the 2 changes at half time. Novos going down the hill in the 2nd half took advantage of that and soon James Bass was gliding his way through the Blyth defence to score and take all 7 points. Defensively both team were great, the try scoring machine Adam Lambert turned into a one man wall on several occasions sniping down anyone that tried running at him. Blyth eventually took a 3 point penalty to take the scores to 17-10 making the last few minutes interesting.
