Novos Fight Hard

Novos started off against local rivals Gosforth poorly conceding two early tries to give the visitors a 14-0 lead.

After 10 minutes as Novos were getting back into the game with the pack were beginning to dominate the set pieces and the lose. Then it got worse for Novos as they first lost Jamie Humble to a shoulder injury, then his replacement Darren McCrory to a yellow card. The sin bin was for a dump tackle which was not dangerous 60 seconds after Novos skipper Ian Pratt was picked up by two Gosforth players and speared into the ground with no penalty given.

Gosforth took full advantage of the additional player to score 3 more tires to race into a half time lead of 35-0.

After Jordan Robinson came on to replace Adam Longstaff to beef up the centers, with the half nearly over Longstaff came on to replace Brian Keith who went off with a bad back.

Throughout the second half Novos totally dominate the game and spent most of the half in the Gosforth 22 but couldn’t get over the line.

Gosforth scored two more tires from long kicks that weren’t dealt with to end the game 0-47.

All game Novos pack were immense it is unusual that a pack will dominate as much as they did and lose, in the second half the whole team were excellent and with more luck the result could have been different.

Man of the match goes to Alan Pitchford who was excellent all day in the back row.
