Local rivals Northern easily beaten

Novos Development team named a strong squad for the short trip to Northern for a league game, a win would see Novos move above Northern in the table.
Novos started off strongly putting Northern on the back foot and took an early lead through a well worked try which lead to full back Dave Marshall racing away to score under the posts, Mark Cooper added the conversion.
Northern hit back quickly after some poor defending from Novos which allowed them to score in the corner.
Steve Gittins went off with injury after 10 minutes, to be replaced by Clive Carlin.
Carlin received a the ball in his own half and kicked forward as the Northern full back spilled the ball Carlin picked up the loose ball to score, Cooper missed the conversion.
Minutes later Novos extended their lead when Craig Patterson picked up a loose ball in the Northern 22 the dash over the line, the conversion was again missed.
It was all Novos now and Brian Keith scored another try from distance after more good work from the forwards allowed cooper to free his quick backline, the conversion was missed again.
Next on the score sheet was the Beast Rob Campbell who got the ball in his own half and outpaced the entire Northern back line to score, Stew Wilson took over the kicking and missed the conversion too.
From a ruck in the Northern 22 Richie Moat got the ball but was stopped just short but offloaded the ball to James Desmond who crashed over from a meter out, the conversion was missed again.
Richie Moat scored the last try of the half after an excellent backs move which put him in 20 meters out, Moat missed the conversion.
At half time Stew Wilson went off to be replaced by Will Pilkington.
In the second half Novos continued to dominated and came close to scoring early on through Brian Keith, Richie Moat and Dave Marshall but last ditch tackling and some dodgy reffing stopped Novos scoring.
Novos pack dominated all half but the backs were trying fancy moves which weren’t coming off as the ball got wet and passes began to be dropped.
Northern scored and undeserved try to make it 37-12 after sloppy defending and some dubious decions.
Richard Seed replaced Brian Keith and Dom Leeson replaced Tommy Wilson Jnr.
With 8 minutes remaining Simon Spencer was sin binned for an unknown offence.
Full time Novos won 37-12 an excellent first half with a disappointing second half gave Novos their first league win of the season, the signs are good that progress can be made up the table once the minor issues are sorted out but these can be worked on in training.
