Novos hosted Northern in the quarter final of the county cup, Novos named a relatively strong squad.

The game started off poorly for Novos allowing Northern to score an early try, the conversion was missed.

This woke Novos up they began to dominate the game and scored through the impressive Dan Hipps, Angus Walker slotted over the conversion.

The momentum was now with Novos, they came close to scoring several times through Brian Keith, Darren McCrory and Dave Henry.

After 30 minutes Mike Cousins went off after a mid field collision, Nick Walker came on with Alan Pitchford moving to prop.

At half time the score was 7-5 to Novos, they knew that they needed to start the second half of strongly.

Novos roared out of the blocks Keith going close to scoring in the corner.

After 60 minutes Novos self destructed allowing two tries from the Northern 13, who on both occasions tackles were missed and poor discipline cost Novos dear as they went 19-7 down.

Novos tired to get back in the game but they had lost their discipline and were unable to score despite spending most of the final 15 minutes in the Northern half, who kept kicking the ball clear.

A poor showing from Novos with a home semi on offer, it appeared they thought all they had to do was show up to win.

Next week Novos have a chance to avenge the defeat with a home league game against Northern next week.

Man of the match was Dan Hipps who was a shining light in a poor performance.
