On a hot sunny day Novos traveled to Whitley Bay Rockcliff 2s, the team was much changed from the previous week. Novos started off slowly and soon lost David Cavanagh to a head injury.

Soon after Novos went behind through some poor defending, this began to wake Novos up who nearly scored after an excellent run from Fergus Wilson from his own half saw Wayne Henaghan throw a forward pass when the line was begging.

Novos then lost Mike Cousins to an ankle injury, this meant that Alan Pitchford came on at prop.

Novos had other good chances to score but the final pass went astray, WBR hit back to score on the counter attack to make it 12-0.

As half time was approaching number 8 Ian Pratt picked the loose ball up in his own half beat 5 men to in a 40 meter run which was only stopped by a last gaps tap tackle.

In the second half running down the hill Novos started to create real problems for WBR after and excellent backs move Jason McDermott was sent through to score under the posts after running it in from 30 meters out, he then added the conversion.

Novos were now camped in the WBR half and after 15 minutes of Novos pressure rockcliff scored on the break to make it 19-7.

Novos then lost Henaghen to a head injury, a hobbling Cousins came on to play hooker.

With time running out Novos scored through Mark Cooper after good pressure and phase after phase from the forwards, the ball was shipped out to the backs where Mark Cooper jinked his way over the line to score. Jason added the conversion via the post to make it 19-14.

With the last play of the game Novos won a scum in their 22 and began to run the ball as the opened up rockcliff looking to score the winning try, the ball was dropped and so to Novos chance of victory.

There were several good performances but man of the match went to James Cowan.

If the team continue to improve as they have done over the last three weeks, victory over Wallsend next week will be possible.
