After last week thrilling win in the last 20 seconds of the game Novos Centurians make the short trip to Cochrane park to for a local derby against Heaton Medicals in a friendly.

Medicals will present a much different problems to the Centurians then those posed by Blyth. Medicals are usually a young team with quick backs, the Centurians are able to name a young quick team for a game which is expected to allow plenty of free flowing rugby and plenty of tires.

The squad is largely the same as the one that took on Blyth, however there are some enforced changes Jack Watkins has been stolen by the 2s, Ed Ellerington is at a wedding, David Marshall is working, Ed Bowness claims he is concussed and Chris Curson is on holiday.

In the front row Jack Hendrickson move from hooker to loose head, Mike Hudspeth moves from loose head to tight head and the dentist Lee Histed returns at hooker.

The second row is totally changed from last week Chris Coates returns alongside James Bennett as long as Bennett turns up this week.

In the back row Jack Wilkinson get his chance to start after impressing when coming on at blindside, Chris Bourke moves to open side and skipper Ian Pratt (the only Centurians forward to score a try last week) is at 8.

In Chris Curson’s absence Dom Watkins moves down from the 3s to fill the number 9 shirt, with Novos Ledged Duncan Mackenzie at 10 controlling the young quick backline.

In the Centres Derek Wilson and Andy Masterson continue to develop their flourishing partnership.

From last weeks back three only Richard Seed survives looking to add to his try tally, he is joined on the wing by Paul Thompson looking to impress after benching in the last two games. Dave Henry returns from his time in the 3s to complete the back three at full back.

There is plenty of quality on the bench the backs are covered by Gary Redshaw, Adam Dawkins and Tom Barker.

The forwards are covered by Steve Thompson, Richard Daly and Novos Chair Man Nick Cotterill who is easing his way back from injury and the shock of no more frozen margaritas.
