A development squad took the north east tens by storm to win the main competition

Novos made further strides in local rugby as a number of new players were given the chance to get some rugby under their belts against other developing clubs in the local area.

The tournament was a round robin and Novos were put in the established teams group with Morpeth, Newcastle University and Darlington.

1st Game - Novos 19 Morpeth 12

It was a shaky start for Novos as they found their feet but certainly in the 2nd half found their feet to beat Morpeth

2nd Game - Novos 36 - Newcastle Uni 5

This was a much better performance, new signings Sophia McGauley, Mariona Sort and Emma Jordan found form and look like players who can challenge to get into the 1st team while Leah Thomas did a great job propping for the first time, and Kirsty Nolan and Cathy Foster did some great things in defence and Nolan in particular with ball in hand charged into Newcastle a couple of times and showed good hands in contact to set up a few attacks - This is great news for Novos as they make great strides learning a new sport.

3rd Game - Novos 52 - Darlington 0 - Novos saved the best for last, scoring tries from all over the pitch against a very big and powerful host side, Emma Jordan and Mariona Sort scored a hat trick each but the moment of the game was a show and go from Cathy Foster (She has been watching Struth) followed by a 30 metre break before drawing the last defender to set Fanny Fouin away to score.

Very successful day - Novos scoring 97 points and conceding just 17 against some decent sides

A great tournament, well hosted by Darlington and this type of tournament is vital to the continued growth of the ladies game with new teams appearing and a good opportunity for our new players to get some rugby in.

The development team are hoping to pick up a fixture for the weekend and beyond as the ladies section continues to grow and go from strength to strength - its vital our new players and developing players can get some game time in order to improve and really challenge the players in the league squad! - the future is very bright indeed!!
