Match Preview

Pre-season training concluded this week with great intensity and focus from all which is really positive going into our first league game against Loughborough. There were some difficult decisions to be made in selecting the team this week, which shows everyone has been putting the effort into training and great strength in depth in the squad despite many absentees due to the GNR.

The starting squad for Sunday sees two debuts for Novos as both Claire Davies and Katie Crute moved North over the summer. Also new to the team, and the game, Beth Brougham has been selected for the bench having impressed at training.

From available records we've only been playing Loughborough over the last two seasons, when they were promoted to Championship North 1 in 2014/15. Over our 5 meetings Novos have won twice, and lost three times, conceding 130 points to 110 points. Last season Novos however won on both occasions that we met, scoring 55 points to 17. Novos made the trip south at a similar time last season, coming home with a 33-12 win.
