A poor first half showing left Novos with too much to do in the second half.

Novos travelled to West Bridgford knowing they would be in for a tough game, after just winning the home encounter earlier in the season.
Novos kicked off to West Bridgford and unfortunately allowed them to take control of the game, with some strong runs from their forwards giving them good momentum and it wasn't long before they scored through their centre.
West Bridgford had the majority of possession, and despite a much more organised defence, Novos found themselves constantly on the wrong side of the referee. Frustrations grew as time and time again they were penalised, and eventually centre Janette Shaw was sin-binned. West Bridgford were able to make the most of their extra player, and the score was 24-0 at half time.
Novos were determined to improve their performance in the 2nd half, and began strongly with good carries from the forwards, particularly Fee Shanks and Hannah Pollard. Unfortunately, Novos lost possession and West Bridgford quickly spun the ball wide for their winger to go over in the corner.
Instead of heads dropping, Novos started to string together a good passage of play, and the referee seemed to decide it was the opposition's turn to be penalised. From a quick tap Novos made good territory and recycled the ball to allow Janette Shaw to score. With West Bridgford still on the wrong side of the ref, they were reduced to 14 and Novos were able to take advantage of the extra player with fly half Ruth Scott diving over from the base of a ruck. With their heads up, Novos pressed forward again, working through the phases and recycling the ball to allow 2nd row Hannah Pollard to crash over, converted by Emma Nichol, making the score 31-17.
Sadly it was West Bridgford who had the last say, scoring a try in the corner with the last play of the game to deny Novos a losing bonus point.
Novos know they can't afford to give the opposition such a big lead, and will be looking to rectify that on Saturday when they host Birkenhead Park.
