Morpeths Winter Warmer

This week we moved onto Morpeth for the next installment of the girls rugby tournaments
Novos fielded a depleted squad in terms of numbers but in no way lacking in quality we clubbed together with Alnwick and Tynedale which gave us a squad of 6 and with the assistance of Morpeth and Keswick we managed to feild 7 players for each game
1st up Morpeth A and they fielded the strongest side available to take advantage and gat revenge for defeats earlier in the season but the Novos side put up a stern resistance and despite the girls being put together 5 minutes earlier they went in at half time 2-1 in the second half Morpeth tried to capitalise furthe and scored 2 tries in quick succession but the girls never gave up and were rewarded with a try with the last play
Next came Keswick A and again the Novos girls were assisted by a Morpeth loanee this time the girls were not to be outdone after a goalless first half the Keswick girls took the lead with a breakaway try and once again with time running out the girls again scored with the last play of the game to gain a hard fought draw
Another quick turnaround and it was Keswick Bs turn to take on the girls this time we took the game to the oppersition and with far supirior tackling we came away winning 2-1
And so to our final game Morpeth B(ish) again Morpeth were out for revenge but this time the girls were ready for them with the game going end to end Morpeth took the lead only for Novos to reply from the kickoff again Morpeth threw all at us and were rewarded with another well worked score but once again the girls replied from the kick off with some great passing Novos went in at the corner and it was our turn to put the pressure on and it was only the final whistle that stopped the girls from coming away with another score
So ok today we lost our 100% record but the spirt and way the girls played today shows that we are building a great bunch of girls with a fantastic team spirt
