Down but not out

Today the girls were beaten for the 1st time this season at Stockton in changeable conditions the girls took to the field against a very strong Sunderland side coached by ex Novo Laura Coleman it was decided to alter the format to 10 a side and an increase in pitch size gave the girls a set of challenges. Both sides were up for a physical game and it did not dissapoint with crunching tackles going in from the off. It was Novos who took the lead with a brilliant solo effort from Evie dodging through numerous tackles before scoring in the corner. Sunderland replied from the restart and the half ended level. 2nd half started with a quick breakaway and Sunderland ran in their 2nd try but back came Novos with Charlotte equalling the score. Once again Sunderland used the width and scored in the corner and a missed pass let them increae their lead with time running out Taylor broke the Sunderland defence and scored to bring it to a 4-3 defeat.

Next up came Stockton after a short breather the girls took to the field against a much improved side than the one we faced earlier in the season with end to end rugby the girls played their socks off with Novos making all the running and leading by 3 scores at one stage then came injuries 1st Niomi after being barged into touch and falling awkwardly then Daisy was tackled heaverly and went over on her ankle. Taylor came off after receiving a high challenge against Sunderand and was unable to continue and Stockton went on to run in 4. Novos rallied to level the score but when Summer went down with a knee injury Stockton ran in to score with the last play of the game .

A big well done goes out to Faye for some great tackling, to Zoe and Paige who are improving week in week out and to Jen and Courtney for keeping the girls in line on the pitch and to the parents for bringing the girls along. Okay it was a bad day at the office but we will bounce back next time
