U15 and U13 Girls had a brilliant day at Blyth for a fun filled afternoon of rugby!

Blyth Rugby have joined the growing number of rugby clubs in the North East to provide rugby for girls aged 13-15, and to celebrate their first season invited all the Northumberland clubs to a festival on Sunday 13th September.

Four girls at under 15 and one at under 13 trecked North in the search of some running rugby and they certainly got it! Joining up with our friendly neighbours Rockcliff, the girls got 3 games against Morpeth, Tynedale and Blyth. We lost the first two, however, the score line was much closer than last season and considering these two clubs are much more developed in terms of their girls rugby, we did fantastically well with Paige Smith scoring both tries. Most of the opposition tries came from pacey wingers which all teams at any level will struggle to stop!

The final game was against hosts and newbies Blyth where we won 11-0. Paige scoring another incredible 5 tries and Jess Clapperton getting in the mix with one. Great effort and support work was also shown by Eve Thompson and Zoe Lee.

Hope Simpson in the U13's also joined up with Rockcliff where the girls had a joint training session followed by a game against Tynedale. The enthusiasm to get some game time is fantastic considering having to travel up from Durham!

Great efforts by all and by all accounts the girls had a great time. Let's continue in this positive vain as we look towards the girls friendly festival being hosted at Novos on 4th October!
