Board Update March & April 2026

Board Update March & April 2026

Tom Dias27 Apr - 20:49

Update to members.

Apologies for missing a month with these updates, it has been a busy time!

  • The Men’s section continues to see success on the field. Since these board meetings we have of course seen the 1st XV win the County Plate and League to earn promotion. The 2nd XV also won their league on Saturday and prior to this the 3rd XV won the number 4 County Cup. The 1st XV have a quarter-final of the national cup still to go!
  • Tour to Berlin was a success, although of course, what goes on tour, stays on tour, so nothing further on that.
  • Unfortunately the Ladies 1st XV have been confirmed as relegated. However they have put in great efforts in an incredibly challenging league. The ladies deserve tremendous credit for continuing to stick at it though the season. Plans are already being worked on to ensure we have every opportunity to bounce back next year.
  • The minis and junior section have had some challenges with reducing numbers. A number of people are working on plans to see this reversed. The Board recognises the only way the club as a whole survives and thrives is with the same thing happening in the age groups. If you would like to get involved please do get in touch!
  • The Club continues to battle a tough financial position. There remains outstanding capital costs of last summer’s building work to pay, and we are hugely grateful to our suppliers for their ongoing patience. There has been an increase in efforts in fundraising as well keeping costs under control to ensure our suppliers are paid in full as soon as possible. If you have any fundraising ideas that we can implement over the summer please do put your hand up and contact us.
  • Members will have seen adverts for the car show and wine tasting events. Keep an eye out for the beer festival date. Tag Rugby have once again signed up to use Novos as their location for this summer. Further commercial opportunities are being explored, so watch this space!
  • Our Treasurer Neil Murphy is, unfortunately for us, having to step back from his duties owing to increased commitments outside of Novos. Neil has been instrumental in stabilising the Club’s finances in his tenure and in progressing the improvements you see around the Club. We are hugely thankful for his efforts. Matthew Dawson has already stepped up to take over the day to day finances of the club, however we are looking for a commercially minded person to assist with the big picture of the clubs future finances. Please contact us if you think you can help!
  • Our current kit supplier deal comes to an end this summer. Terms are being finalised with a new supplier we are sure you will all approve of. There will be an online shop along with more affordable options. Further details will be announced in due course.
