The Board met earlier this month and here is the summary of what was discussed:
- You will have seen in last months update that the finances of the club were tight. Further discussion over this were had. This was largely down to a lack of activity at the club due to the poor weather. We now have higher fixed costs, which allow us to have very good months generally, however when we have little income, this hits us harder. We also have notable debt repayments, that will lower after this calendar year, but make mean we take a big hit when we have reduced income.
- A small grant from the Northumberland Rugby Trust has been secured and received, for which we are very thankful.
- Bookings were starting to be received for this year for use of our hospitality space, including from those not linked to the club. This is a great sign that the work we have done over the last year will pay off. Look out for up and coming announcements about a car show, and excitingly, a wine tasting night.
- We are liaising with touch rugby again to hopefully secure their using the pitches and bar through the summer. This will have to be worked in with pitch repair work.
- All agreed we need to continue to ask out fantastic members and affiliates to volunteer where they can. It is of a huge help to the club (as seen on recently being able to ensure the pitches remain in good condition).
- Men’s rugby continues to go well, competing on three fronts.
- Women’s rugby continue to battle to survive the drop, and got a good win against Blaydon. This gives us all hope. Everyone at the club offers their support to the ladies.
- Youth rugby reported continued ongoing positivity. There has unfortunately been an increase in behavioural issues around the County (not involving Novos), we remind all to stick to the TREDS principles.
- Mini rugby report an increase in numbers, which is fantastic to see.
- The fund raising for the girls rugby section has gone brilliantly and their efforts continue! All on the board agree that they are a key part of our club and enjoy our full support.
As always, if you feel like to can help with any of the above issues, or any other areas, please do get in touch!
