Pitch maintenance

Pitch maintenance

Tom Dias5 Dec - 10:06

Can you help with the pitches?

The club is continuing to strive to improve the facilities available to members, players and guests, whilst keeping costs at a sustainable level. A key component of this is going what general pitch maintenance we can ourselves. Or to put it another way, to have volunteers cut the grass and mark the lines. This allows us to spend money on more complicated grounds work that we can’t do.

Some of you may know that there is a group of industrious members to get together, usually on a Friday afternoon, to complete odd jobs around the club. Lead by Andy Palmer, this Friday Crew have done sterling work in making repairs and generally keeping the place tidy.

This season the Friday Crew have also taken on the pitch marking and grass cutting. This has been a big help but does take up a lot of their time.

We are therefore looking for any volunteers that would want to join them in the grass cutting and pitch marking, either on a Friday afternoon, and/or at a time more convenient for you.

You will of course be shown how to use the machines, and in the next few months that will only be the line sprayer. Each pitch takes about 45 minutes to mark with the sprayer and needs doing every 2 to 3 weeks or so. If we get a good crew of us this therefore won’t be a big commitment. It is also a great way to get your steps in!

If you are interested in joining in please get in touch with via tom_dias1720@hotmail.com and we can go from there.
