Rob Ogilvie's men host Morpeth at 1400 with a great squad selected. The group will be captained by Greg Wills and boasts some real ability with 16 of the 17 men having represented the first team.
Motivation should be high as the we approach the first teams final three league games and then the Papa Johns cup run. Fringe players will get an opportunity to impress first team coaches whilst others will want to stake their claim.
Those in attendance will hope that the young front rowers in Sol Mak and David Medjigbodo-Lawson shine. It is great to see the return of Simeon Archibald after a few games out - he was a regular first teamer a short time ago. Sure he will want a big performance in a rare outing of late.
In the backs we can look forward to see regular first team winger have a crack at 9 as we seek to cover Rhys Merlane's injury from last week. Hopefully, Merlane will be fit to play next week against Ryton but a half at 9 will do Cook the world of good. Then it will be over to Josh Martin to stake his claim for the 9 shirt.
Some great backs will be on display - none more so than Adam Lambert who looks in great touch at training. Lambert has been excited in his brief appearances for the ones and will want to terrorise Morpeth to secure a spot in the 18 for Ryton next week.
In the away game Andy Croft and Steve Gittins lads travel to South Shields. Captain, Ian Wood starts from the bench after crying on after Thursday's training. A huge task ahead against the unbeaten Shieldsmen. However, if they are going to lose it may well be tomorrow as we have a good side out.
18 lads will make the short journey thru the tunnel and incredibly 7 of them have played first team in recent years. From the likes of Brendan Thomas, James Bass and Lex Leonard who played in years gone by to the lads who have played recently in James Moore, Luke Masters and Christian Selkirk.
We also welcome Gareth Edwards who will be playing his first game in some time and his first game for Novos. He will bring much needed experience and calmness to the battle upfront in the second half.
Good luck boys - Up the Vos !
