Novos production line of talented youngsters continues apace with Sean Lightfoot invited to train with the Irish Exiles under 19 squad.

Novos are proud to announce the inclusion of Prop Sean Lightfoot in the Irish Exiles under 19s training squad for 2010

Sean represented the Irish Exiles last year against the Irish barbarians at U19 level (Even though he is still just 17). And the Irish Exiles coaches have invited him back this year with a view to including him in their squad to travel to Ireland to play Munster and Connaught at under 19 level This is an amazing opportunity as Sean will have the opportunity to show the full Irish under 19 selectors what he can do!

Sean attended a two day training camp a in June at St Mary's College in London, where he was put through his paces by some of the top coaches from Ireland and played in some trial matches. He worked with Andy Clarke, Irelands strength and conditioning coach and with the ireland U18, U19 AND U20 coaches. The whole thing was headed by the exiles development coach, Mark Blair who was a heineken cup winner with ulster.

Sean has been a member of our junior and colts section for a number of years and has always chosen to continue to play his rugby at Novos despite approaches from other clubs and luckily for us will be studying in Newcastle this year he intends to continue playing under 19s rugby at Novos but also will be challenging for a place in our first team this year.

Colts coach Tom Jackson has spoken of his pride at the quality of players he has coached through from Junior ranks that are now ready to make the step up alongside Sean, the likes of Rhys Crame, Ben Walker, Guy Holt and Thomas Armitage all representing the county side last season. With some of those leaving for University it is hoped that we can continue this success with the next crop of talented youngsters such as, Stew Wilson, Will Darragh, Jonny Bulfin and Neil Whickham who will now be old enough to step up to the senior sides and challenge the older players at first team level.
