Novos were excellent in both defence and attack as they ground out a hard fought win against well drilled and strong opponent.

The opening 20 minutes was frantic and Novos had to defend for long periods and they did fantastically well to keep Northumbria at bay. Then in the final 5 minutes of the third Novos began getting some posession allowing the excellent skipper Janette to make dents in to TN's back line. Shauna at scrum half gave great quick ball and Amy was providing great service in the lineout. Above all Novos scrummage was massively strong and in particular Cat Ingoe playing her first game in the role of prop excelled as Novos totally dominated TN's pack.

The second third was much of the same but Novos were now coming into the ascendency more and more and it was fully deserved when a penalty from Helen Kane gave Novos a slender lead. Novos continued to heap on pressure but couldnt find a way through until Shauna Veitch scored from the back of a ruck.

The final third was more of the same and a final score was added through impressive number 8 Kate Disley who took on 3 players before dummying the full back to score.

A great win and good preparation for next weeks opening league game away to Fleetwood.
